The innovative and imaginative are taking over Red Deer College this weekend.

The second annual Red Deer Mini Maker Faire will feature approximately 50 different makers showcasing things from the science of art glass, cigar box guitars and Red Deer’s own home-built R2-D2.

“It’s one fun filled day exploring all the cool projects that are often hidden away in basements, garages, barns and makerspaces. This event teases out all that creativity and showcases the passion of the people who build marvelous things. Expect to leave inspired and amazed,” the event’s website says.

While there, tour RDC’s Centre for Innovation, check out the MakerEd Stage, and if you’re an educator, visit the Teachers’ Lounge.

The Red Deer Mini Maker Faire runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register (for free), visit RedDeer.makerfaire.com.

Expedia ranks Red Deer among North America's 'Most Breathtaking Places'
