Jun 13, 2017 | 10:05 AM

RED DEER- Area employers expect to do a little hiring in the third quarter of 2017, according to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey.

Data shows that 10 per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming July to September quarter.

Two per cent of those surveyed anticipate cutbacks and another 88 per cent of employers plan to maintain their current staffing levels in the upcoming quarter.

“With seasonal variations removed from the data, Red Deer’s third quarter Net Employment Outlook of four per cent is a 10 per cent decrease when compared to the previous quarterly Outlook,” said Randy Upright, CEO of Manpower’s Alberta region. “It is also an increase of one per cent from the same time last year, indicating a mild hiring pace for the upcoming months.”
