Central Alberta Pride Week will once again take place this August.

From August 13 to 20, the public is invited to celebrate diversity with members of the LGBTQ+ community, their friends and allies.

“Central Alberta Pride Week is a time to get together as a community to celebrate and honour who we are as persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,” said Serge Gingras, Board Chair.

“It is also a remembrance of LGBTQ+ history, an acknowledgement of past and current struggles here at home, in our community, and in other parts of the world.”

Festivities kick off with Pride in the Park at Bower Ponds on August 13. The event will feature a Mayoral Proclamation followed by an afternoon of live entertainment, food trucks, games and activities for the entire family.

A number of other events are planned for the week including family friendly bowling, movies and the highly anticipated Drag Show & Dance on Saturday, August 19 at the Sheraton Red Deer Hotel.

The full schedule is available at CentralAlbertaPride.ca.

Additionally, Central Alberta Pride Society is looking for sponsors and volunteersto help the week a successful one. Anyone interested in getting involved should visit the Pride website or email centralabpride@gmail.com.
