Agreement reached between City of Red Deer and IAAF emergency services personnel

A new two and a half year Collective Agreement with the City of Red Deer was ratified Monday by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) 1190.

The agreement will see a wage increase for approximately 200 local emergency services personnel.

Red Deer City Council and the IAFF met during a period of nine days to discuss and bargain. Ultimately, a Mediator brought forth the recommended terms of settlement to be ratified by the two parties.

The new Collective Agreement will be in effect from January 1, 2017 until June 30, 2019. Wage increases will be 2.5 per cent as of January 1, 2017, 1.1 per cent on January 1, 2018, 1.1 per cent July 1, 2018 and 1.2 per cent on January 1, 2019.
