Crews put out small fire at Penhold restaurant

Everyone is okay following a mishap which caused a small fire at a Penhold restaurant.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, fire crews responded to the restaurant on Robinson Avenue where there was an ongoing fire inside one of the ovens.

Penhold Fire Captain Elisabeth Crowson says, “The staff had mistakenly used the wrong paper and it started on fire.”

Crowson went on to say that when the fire alarm was activated, staff did the right thing by turning off the oven, evacuating and waiting for the fire department.

There were no injuries or serious damage and the restaurant was reopened within minutes.
