March building permits exceed last year’s values

RED DEER- All sectors but commercial exceeded building permit values in March compared to the same month in 2017.

Total permits were valued at $13.9 million, compared to $8 million in March of last year.

Forty-eight residential permits valued at $3.4 million were issued last month, compared to 47 valued at $2.5 million last March.

Industrial sector permits last month were valued at $1 million and public permits at $5.9 million – far exceeding the five-figure values for both sectors in March 2017.

Year-to-date building permits, valued at $60 million, remain double that of 2017.

Notable permits for March include one valued at $5 million for Notre Dame Plaza at Lancaster and 30 Avenue, phase one of which is expected to include health and medical services.

Other significant permits include a permit valued at $2 million for a new Union Tractor shop and office at 7850 79 Street, and a commercial complex at Thomlison Avenue, valued at $1.2 million.
