Brazeau County announces new energy efficiency rebates

Brazeau County is going green while at the same time you could be seeing more green in your wallet. 

Council passed a motion at Tuesday’s meeting to launch a Municipal Energy Efficiency Rebate Program to allow residents to earn rebates on energy efficient household products.

The program will mirror the Energy Efficiency Alberta rebate program, though municipal adjustments may be made. If purchases are made before the conclusion of the provincial program, Brazeau County residents can receive both the provincial and municipal rebates.

In order to qualify for the rebates residents must keep their receipts for purchases of a wide variety of items, including energy efficient lightbulbs, water heaters, thermostats and motion sensor lights. 

Any purchases made between April 1 of this year to April 30 of 2019 will fall into the rebate window.

Once the program launches, the County will issue rebate cheques quarterly for purchases that qualify for $50 or more in rebates. Residents will be asked to complete an application form and provide copies of purchase receipts.

Further details on the program will be ironed out by May 1.
