Do you know your downtown?

Aug 17, 2017 | 4:14 PM

If you think you know downtown Red Deer, tell us, or even better, show us!

The City of Red Deer and The Red Deer Downtown Business Association are running a contest for citizens
to find out how well they know the area and also a chance to learn about what it has to offer.

“Our goal is to have citizens experience the downtown by having them search out places that we’ve
included in the contest,” said Amanda Gould, Executive Director with the Red Deer Downtown
Business Association. “It gives everyone an opportunity to not only scope out these places, but to find
out what else there is downtown, the businesses, organizations, parks and public art by local artists.
We take a lot of pride in our downtown and we want to be sure all Red Deerians know what there is to
offer here.”

The City has provided a piece of nine pictures along with questions to go along with each. Citizens
have two options to participate.

“The first option is to answer all nine questions and submit your answers to be entered into a draw,”
said Ryan Veldkamp, Community Facilitator with The City of Red Deer. “Or even better, the second
option is to head downtown and snap a selfie at six of the nine locations to be entered into the second
draw.”

The Downtown Business Association has put together two prize packages, each worth $100 which
successful submissions will be entered to win. The prize for the first option include a $25 gift card from
both Dose and City Roast as well as a $50 gift card from LUKSUS. The prize for the second option is a
$25 gift card from both Quenched and Bistro on Gaetz as well as a $50 gift certificate from Great
Strides.

In order to be eligible to be entered into one of the draws, you must be a Red Deer citizen. The
submission deadline for the contest is Monday, August 28. Citizens can submit their answers or selfies
by email to communications@reddeer.ca or through private message through The City’s Facebook
page. Citizens are asked to include their name, address (proof of being a Red Deer citizen), phone
number and email along with your submission. Those who submit selfies may see one or more of their
photos on The City’s social media pages.
