Apr 28, 2018 | 1:42 PM

A High Streamflow Advisory remains in place for the Red Deer River downstream from the City of Red Deer.

That according to Alberta Government officials who say High Streamflow Advisories are also in place for other parts of the Red Deer River Basin, including the Medicine River, Little Red Deer River near its mouth, Three Hills Creek, Kneehills Creek, Rosebud River and all of their respective tributaries.

In addition, the Provincial River Forecast Centre which monitors river ice, volumes and flows across the province 365 days a year, has issued advisories for parts of the Athabasca River Basin and Peace River Basin as well.

Currently, there is one Flash Flood Alert in Fort Vermillion, a Critical Overland Flood Alert in Woodlands County northwest of Edmonton and six Overland Flood Alerts in Greenview near Grande Prairie, Hythe near Grande Prairie, Fairview, Grande Prairie County and the MD of Taber near Lethbridge.

Government officials say they are continuing to monitor the situation province-wide, are providing river forecasts, emergency alerts and expert advice while coordinating onsite support to affected municipalities and First Nations communities in need of assistance.

As the situation stabilizes, communities in southern Alberta are shifting the focus of their operations from flood response to recovery.

Motorists are reminded not to drive on flooded roadways, as they risk hitting submerged road hazards. For the latest on road closures in affected areas, visit the Alberta Emergency page at www.alberta.ca/emergency.aspx.

Those looking for additional information on any effects flooding has had on a specific community, should contact that community or First Nations community directly.
