Rocky man get two years for drug trafficking

Jan 14, 2019 | 10:31 AM

A Rocky Mountain House man arrested in a drugs and firearms bust by local Mounties will spend two more years behind bars.

Following a lengthy investigation, RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in Rocky Mountain House on Feb. 2, 2017 and turned up cocaine, methamphetamine, magic mushrooms and other illicit drugs. Mounties also seized Canadian currency, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a large number of illegal high-powered rifles and shotguns.

Wade Otterson, 32, pleaded guilty last week to possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison, minus six months for time already spent in custody.

Several other counts against Otterson relating to firearms and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions were withdrawn.
