Woman, child killed in crash near Rocky Mountain House

A 35-year-old woman and 4-year-old boy are dead following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near Rocky Mountain House.

The fatal crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Highway 756 northwest of Rocky.

Police believe a car with two occupants was travelling northbound on Highway 756 when it lost control and collided with an oncoming southbound truck with two occupants. 

The two occupants of the car, both from O’Chiese First Nation, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two adult male occupants of the truck suffered minor injuries and were transported to hospital and later released.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst remained on scene for several hours investigating. Road conditions at the time were reported as slippery due to freezing rain in the area.  

No charges will be laid.

The names of the deceased are not being released.
