Drayton Valley RCMP weekly report: Jan. 10- Jan. 17

January 10

11:34 am – Drayton Valley, Best Western Parking Lot – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting their vehicle was entered and numerous promotional John Deere items stolen. 

1:22 pm – Drayton Valley, Reliance Well Service – Assist Fire Department – Report received of a vehicle fire inside shop.  Members attended, and held back spectators while fire department extinguished the fire.  Damage to a vacuum truck and 2 argos.

2:35 pm – Drayton Valley, Greenwood Trailer Court – Theft – Complainant reporting their debit card had been stolen from their wallet and then subsequently used.

January 11

10:41 am – Brazeau County – Break and Enter – Members were dispatched to a break and enter in progress.  Complainant reported that 2 males in a red sedan were trying to break into the residence.  Members attended and arrested two males.  21-year-old Ryley Trafiak and 30-year-old Christopher Millet were arrested and held for a hearing.  Trafiak is charged with breaking and entering, possession of break and enter instruments, mischief under $5000, 3 counts of failing to comply with probation order and disguised with intent to commit offence.  Millet is charged with break and enter, mischief under $5000 and failing to comply with conditions.

11:34 am – Drayton Valley, Home Away Inn – Theft – Complainant reporting catching a male who stole his tools.  Complainant followed male to the bottle depot where they contacted RCMP.  Members attended and arrested male for theft.  Complainant did not wish to pursue charges as they were able to get their tools back.

11:42 am – Parkland County, Tomahawk Transfer station – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting the lock has been cut off of the transfer station. 

11:57 am – Drayton Valley, Getzinger Auto Body – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting a tailgate stolen from a parked truck while parked in parking lot.  Suspects cut the fence into the compound and stole a white tailgate off a 2017 Dodge Ram.

6:07 pm – Brazeau County – RR 92 – Abandoned Tractor – Complainant reporting a tractor in the middle of the road, no lights on, concerned it will get hit.  Members attended location, Tractor was gone upon arrival.

7:19 pm – Brazeau County, RR 55 – Break and Enter – Report of a break and enter to residence.  Several items stolen.   

8:05 pm – Parkland County – Break and Enter – Report of an attempted break and enter to residence. Complainant reported that they were home alone when they heard someone try and enter the residence.  Entry was not gained.  Neighbour attended and checked area, no one noted.

9:17 pm – Drayton Valley, Greenwood Trailer Court – Harassing Communications – Complainant reporting they were receiving harassing messages through the plenty of fish dating website.  Wished person to be spoken to.  Member spoke with suspect and advised them to cease communications.

January 12

12:28 am – Brazeau County – Assist Fire Department – Members called to a possible structure fire in a shed.  No injuries, Fire department attended and extinguished fire.

11:11 am – Drayton Valley, Aspen Motor Inn – Unwanted male – Complainant reporting a male refusing to leave the Inn.  Male had been stabbing his countertop in the room and now wants to pay for another night and is being refused.  Members attended provided a courtesy ride.  No damage was observed.

12:41 pm – Drayton Valley, 53 Avenue – Damage to vehicle – Complainant reporting their truck was vandalised overnight.  Their 2015 red Ford F150 had deep paint scratches on left drivers side. 

2:18 pm – Brazeau County – Firearms Act – Complainant reporting hearing several gun shots.  Members attended and located individuals who were using firearms for target practise.  No issues.

3:16 pm – Brazeau County, RR 51 – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting a break and enter to their cabin sometime in the past two weeks.  Entry gained by breaking the front door.  Shop also broken into and Polaris razor side by side taken. 

4:15 pm – Drayton Valley, 40 Street – Animal call – Complainant reporting that ex just dropped off dog at their residence.  Complainant did not want dog.  Member offered to call Cause for Critters, however complainant did not want that.

5:09 pm – Drayton Valley, Chimo Place – Theft – Complainant reporting theft of licence plate off white Ford F250. 

5:14 pm – Drayton Valley, River Valley Contracting – Wellbeing check – Request a wellbeing check on an older male observed walking through the yard at Weyerhauser.  Wearing all dark clothes.  Member attended and complainant was speaking with the person.  Member gave a courtesy ride back to Seasons Retirement Home.

11:43 pm – Drayton Valley, Esso Station – Erratic Driving – Members received several complaints regarding a silver Chrysler 300 stunting, 2 male occupants.  Members attended location, vehicle was gone upon their arrival, Member patrolled the area and located vehicle near the 7-11.  Driver arrested and charged with Impaired driving.

January 13

2:27 am – Drayton Valley, Derrick Lounge – disturbance – Report received that approximately 15 people were fighting, bottles being thrown around.  Members attended and located an intoxicated male who was arguing with staff.  Male arrested for drunk in public and given a courtesy ride home. 

9:02 am – Brazeau county – Abandoned Vehicle – Complainant reporting a white ford super duty parked at the gate to a lease site. Member called the registered owner to the vehicle who advised that they were hunting for cougars in the area.

1:58 pm – Drayton Valley – Child Custody Dispute – Complainant reporting that they have joint custody of 14-year-old son.  While at one parents house, the son had their xbox taken away.  Sometime overnight the son took the xbox and went to other parents.  No further issues.

3:15 pm – Brazeau County, Buck Creek Turnoff – Traffic Hazard – Complainant reporting 5 round bales on the road.  Owner managed to push them off the road prior to members attendance .

3:52 pm – Drayton Valley, 54 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting a dark grey Hyundai Tucson had been broken into.  Two windows were broken.  Unknown what is stolen as owner is out of town.

January 14

04:00 am – Drayton Valley McDonalds – Wellbeing check – Complainant reporting male had ordered then passed out in the drive thru.  Members attended and located male who was high on drugs.  Member gave driver a 24 hour suspension and drove male home.

7:01 am – Drayton Valley, Best Western Parking Lot – Theft of truck – Complainant  reporting a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado stolen.  Complainant reported that they had started the vehicle and gone back inside, the doors were locked. 

9:00 am – Drayton Valley, Omniplex – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting their 2010 Ford Escape, white in colour was broken into and a bag of clothing and a GoPro were stolen.

9:18 am – Drayton Valley, Getzingers – Theft from vehicle – Report of theft of tail gate off a white 2005 GMC Sierra.

9:37 am – Drayton Valley, 50 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting theft of licence plate off their 2018 Blue GMC Sierra 1500.

1:06 pm – Drayton Valley, 47 Street – Theft – Complainant reporting theft of utility trailer with orange Polaris RZR 900 on it was stolen from backyard.  Property backs onto Westwinds parking lot.

2:59 pm – Drayton Valley, Cameo Courts – Assault – Members called to a report of an assault between two males.  Members attended, one male arrested and charged with assault.

8:45 PM – Drayton Valley, Pembina Manor – Theft of truck – Complainant reporting theft of black 2002 GMC Sierra 1500.  Doors were locked.  Members patrolled the area with negative results. 

10:59 pm – Drayton Valley, 52 Avenue – Damage to Fire Hydrant – Report received of a female in a 2012 Mazda 6, blue in colour just hit a fire hydrant.  The driver fled.  Members attended location and located the vehicle which was running with the keys in the ignition.  Matter is still under investigation.

January 15

1:09 am – Drayton Valley, 53 Street – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting a suspicious male in the back alley.  Male approximately 30 years old with a shaved head, approx. 280 lbs, no shirt on, looking in their truck. 

8:24 am – Drayton Valley, 45 Street – Theft from Motor Vehicle – Report that sometime in the past week Alberta licence plate BFS-8867 was stolen off of a motor vehicle parked in the back alley.

8:46 am – Brazeau County, Township Road 510 – Motor Vehicle Collision – Vehicle collided with a parked vehicle on private property.  No injuries.

9:57 am – Brazeau County, Range Road 81 – Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Burned out stolen vehicle that was stolen from Pembina Manor the night before was located.

2:14 pm – Drayton Valley, Service Plus – Mischief/Attempted Theft from Motor Vehicle – Some time since 1:30 am, an unknown suspect(s) attempted to cut the exhaust system off of a Ford F350 that was parked in the parking lot.

January 16

9:07 am – Drayton Valley, 47 Avenue – Suspicious Vehicle – Vehicle reported to be driving around back alleys.  The vehicle was located parked and unoccupied; no evidence any offence had taken place.

10:15 am – Brazeau County, Range Road 100 – Abandoned Vehicle/Theft of Vehicle – Report of an abandoned travel trailer.  Police attended and located the trailer and were able to identify the owner.  It was then learned that that the trailer had been stolen some time in the last couple of weeks from 54 Avenue in Drayton Valley.

11:36 am – Drayton Valley, Walmart – Shoplifting – Report of an adult female with long hair wearing a red toque stole several items including cosmetics.

4:21 pm – Brazeau County, Highway 759 – Collision – Report of a single vehicle collision, vehicle slid off the road due to icy conditions.  No injuries.

January 17

12:29 am – Drayton Valley, 44 Avenue – Suspicious Vehicle – Report of the same vehicle reported earlier driving through back alleys.  Patrols were made, the vehicle was not located.

5:08 am – Brazeau County, Range Road 85 – Animal Call – Report of 4 cows on the road.  Police attended, owners had rounded up the cows and secured them prior to police arrival.
