Statement of facts coming for Red Deer teacher facing child sex charges

Court has heard that an agreed statement of facts is in the works for a former Red Deer teacher facing child sex-related offences.

Norman Joseph Howes, 60, faces counts of sexual counsel of a child, sexual exploitation, luring a child under 18 years, make / print / publish child pornography and sexual contact with a child.

The case was spoken to in Red Deer provincial court Wednesday morning and is scheduled to return on April 10.

Howes was a teacher at Westpark Middle School with over 30 years of teaching experience. He is no longer employed by Red Deer Public Schools.

He initially appeared in court on Dec. 31, 2018 and was released on $3,000 bail.
