Drayton Valley weekly RCMP report: Mar. 14 – Mar. 21

March 14

9:16 am – Drayton Valley, 50 Ave and Hwy 22 – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting young female hitchhiking.  Member had dealt with female earlier in day.  Member attended location, female is hitchhiking to Edmonton.

9:49 am – Drayton Valley, Hwy 22 and 50 Ave – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting a female is running into traffic.  Related to previous complaint.  Member provided courtesy ride up the highway to safer location and advised female not to run into traffic. 

11:12 am – Brazeau County, RR 83 – Wellbeing check – Request to attend property to conduct a wellbeing check on resident as complainant is concerned for their welfare.  Member attended, occupant was tired as had just got off work.  All ok. 

1:14 pm – Drayton Valley, Wal Mart – Shoplifting – Complainant reporting 2 individuals were in store trying on clothes, sunglasses and had a purse.  They left without paying for the items.

1:24 pm – Drayton Valley, 50 Avenue – Lost wallet – Complainant reporting that they went to KFC with their wallet and when they returned home noted that they no longer had the wallet.  Wallet is grey denim.

1:41 pm – Brazeau County, RR 55 – Assist Fire Department – Request for members to assist fire department with SUV on fire.  Member attended as requested.

2:55 pm – Drayton Valley, Wal Mart – Suspicious vehicle – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle has been parked in the parking lot for over six hours.  Members attended, person sleeping in van, not stolen.

2:57 pm – Brazeau county, RR 73 – Wellbeing check – OnStar called to request a wellbeing check on indivudal.  Members attended, person was working on vehicle, accidentally hit the OnStar button. 

3:12 pm – Country Style Trailer Court – Wellbeing check – Complainant requests members conduct wellbeing check on individual.  Members attended, occupant was fine.

3:44 pm – Drayton Valley, Greenwood Trailer Court – Theft  – Complainant reporting that their property has been accessed and tarped shed entered, winter tires, Jerry cans have been taken along with a three foot tall tool box. 

4:49 pm – Drayton Valley, Scotia Bank – Suspicious male – Complainant reporting a man approximately 55-years-old had been walking back and forth in front of bank, pushing a wheeled garbage can and smoking and screaming for the past 30 minutes.  Members attended location, suspect not located.

9:06 pm – Brazeau County, Twp Rd 504 – Suspicious vehicles – Complainant reports observing a silver Ford short box pickup and a black F150 Ford pickup drove into neighbours residence.  Suspects shining lights through every window and were seen trying to pick the front locks.  Believes there were four people.  Members attended, vehicles were gone. 

9:45 pm – Brazeau County, RR 85 – Theft – Complainant reporting there was a truck in their yard loading up stuff.  Members responded and located the suspects who were loading up pallets.  Other occupant of residence had failed to notify that they were coming.

10:00 pm – Drayton Valley, 41A Avenue – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting that renters were moving in to residence, old renters entered residence and cut cables associated to alarm system.

10:16 pm – Drayton Valley, Coach Motel – Disturbance – Complainant reporting a disturbance between two sisters.  One lent the other money and returned to get it back.  Threatening to beat up complainant. Members attended, spoke with both parties who indicated nothing physical occurred.

March 15

4:37 am – Drayton Valley, Econorest – Disturbance – Complainant reporting a disturbance between two tenants.  Members attended, both had left prior to arrival.  Matter is still under investigation.

11:48 am – Drayton Valley, Rivers Condominiums – Hit and Run – Complainant reports that they parked their vehicle and when they returned the next morning there were dents on the truck and a cracked window. 

March 16

11:24 am – Drayton Valley, 51 Avenue – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting a suspicious male with a bandanna over their face is attempting to get into a locked door.  Wearing a blue hoody and sweatpants and hat or toque.  Left walking eastbound.  Members patrolled area, male not located. 

1:36 pm – Rocky Rapids – Mischief – Complainant reporting suspicious persons viewed on their doorbell.  No reason anyone should be there.  Complainant called back to advise the individuals were collecting bottles for charity.

8:06 pm – Brazeau County, Country Style Trailer Court – Suspicious male – Complainant reporting a male is sitting in their truck.  Members attended, no person in vehicle. 

March 17

1:34 pm – Drayton Valley, 47 Street – Breach of Conditions – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a green Ford Explorer.  Male driver arrested for no drivers licence and no registration or insurance.  Further search of vehicle produced a buck knife and small amount of cocaine.  Male arrested and charged for possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.

2:23 am – Drayton Valley, Derrick Lounge – Disturbance – Complainant reporting an unwanted, impaired male refusing to leave.  Members attended and spoke with the subject of complaint who went home in a cab.

10:05 am – Drayton Valley, Harassing communication – Complainant reporting receiving harassing calls from 16-year-old.  Has been going on for the past three months.  Member spoke with all parties.  All advised to not contact each other.

2:26 pm – Drayton Valley, Greenwood Trailer Court – Assistance – Complainant reporting that they are having ongoing issues with their neighbour.  Neighbour continues to drive slowly past their house. Member spoke with both parties as this has been going on for several years. 

7:55 pm – Drayton Valley, 43 Street – Municipal Bylaw – Complainant reporting garbage strewn about from a residence.  Garbage is all over the alley.  Member advised to contact the town.

March 18

12:58 am – Drayton Valley, Derrick Lounge – Assault – Complainant reporting a fight involving approximately 15 people and broken bottles.  Members attended, no injuries, suspect had left.  All persons were intoxicated.  Follow up to be completed once all witnesses are sober.

11:42 am – Drayton Valley, 46 Avenue – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting theft from their 2007 Jeep Patriot.  Health card, IPhone stolen. 

3:34 pm – Drayton Valley area – Firearms Act – Complainant reporting they observed 2 males in the bush behind their residence.  Members attended area, spoke with residents who advised they looked like paint ball guns.  Members patrolled the area with negative results.

March 19

6:39 am – Drayton Valley, Service Plus – Theft from vehicle – Complainant received of theft from black 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.  Drivers side window  broken and jewelry taken.

6:53 am – Drayton Valley, Service Plus Inns – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting their truck was broken into overnight, various tools stolen.

8:57 am – Drayton Valley, 54 Avenue – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting that the exhaust system on their 2008 Freightliner was cut off and stolen. 

9:01 am – Drayton Valley, 55 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting the passenger side window of their 2016 Jeep Cherokee was broken while parked.  Clothing stolen from vehicle.

9:33 am – Drayton Valley, 49 Street – Break and Enter to residence – Complainant reported attending a foreclosed property for inspection and noted that the dead bolt had been removed.  Several appliances had been moved and flooring had been partially removed. 

10:01 am – Drayton Valley, 54 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting their 2013 Toyota Tacoma was broken into over night and wallet stolen.  

1:14 pm – Drayton Valley, 49 Avenue – Theft from motor vehicle – Complainant reporting theft of work bag and laptop from 2014 Dodge Ram.

March 20

8:03 am – Drayton Valley, 39 Avenue – Attempt Break and Enter – Complainant reporting an attempted break and enter to residence.  Back door broken, doesn’t appear entry made, nothing taken.

12:51 pm – Drayton Valley, 55 Avenue – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting a male shouting profanities and walking west towards Dairy Queen and carrying a rake.

2:16 pm – Drayton Valley, Jocelyn’s Independent Grocery – Shoplifting – Complainant reporting a male took approximately $250 worth of items from the store without paying.  Description provided.  Matter still under investigation.

3:07 pm – Brazeau County – Impaired Driving – Complainant reports they have been following what they suspect to be an impaired driver in a silver Dodge Caravan.  Male driving.  Vehicle is swerving all over the road and almost hit the complainant.  Complainant confronted male while they were at the Poplar Ridge Liquor Store and driver admitted they were intoxicated. Complainant then followed the vehicle to a residence before calling the police.  As there was no continuity of evidence, police were unable to charge.

3:28 pm – Drayton Valley, 56 Street – Fraud – Complainant reporting a friend asked them if they could accept an e transfer of $1252 as they didn’t have a bank account.  They did so and were later advised by their bank that the transaction was fraudulent.

3:45 pm – Drayton Valley, 43 Street – Theft of phone – Complainant reporting their black galaxy Samsung S9 was stolen.  Possible suspect

4:00 pm – Drayton Valley, HW Pickup School – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting that they had been approached by person on the bike path as they were biking home.  The person was described as approximately 5’7”, slim build wearing a black hoodie which covered their face and hands and jeans.  This person waved at them to come to them and then the suspect ran towards them.  Complainant rode away. A dark coloured SUV may have observed the person as well as they had stopped at 50 avenue and ring road to let them cross.

8:16 pm – Drayton Valley, 50 Street and 24 Avenue – Flight from police – Members were on patrol when they observed two small dirt bikes driving on the sidewalk.  Members attempted to stop the dirt bikes, however they took off.  Members patrolled the area and located the two males where they were arrested for flight from police as well as issued several traffic violations.

9:33 pm – Drayton Valley, 47 Avenue – Animal call – Complainant reporting two dogs have been outside barking for the past two hours.  Member attended and spoke to the complainant then called the owner to advise as no one was home.  No further calls were received. 

March 21

12:16 am – Drayton Valley, Foxwood Inn – Unwanted person – Complainant reporting they wish a male removed.  Members attended and removed male as requested.

1:05 am – Drayton Valley, 46 Street – Assault – Complainant reporting male is presently at the residence and is being violent.  Hit room mate.  Members attended, however suspect male had already left.  Patrols made, not located.

4:16 am – Drayton Valley, Madsen Avenue – Unwanted male – Hospital calling wish a male to be removed.  He does not need medical services and has no where to go.  Members attended and took male to hotel.

6:03 am – Drayton Valley, 46 Street – Disturbance – Intoxicated male from earlier complaint has returned home and is causing issues.  Member attended.

6:30 am – Drayton Valley, 44 Street – Mischief – Complainant reporting males in a Dodge extended cab long box had attempted to steal a 2006 Ford F350 last week.  Same vehicle has returned and is fiddling with the truck handles. 

7:15 am – Drayton Valley, 46 Street – Disturbance – Related to two previous complaints regarding intoxicated male who has returned. 

Officers are asking anyone who may have information regarding any of these unsolved occurrences, to contact Drayton Valley RCMP at 780-542-4456.
